Walk around Piazza Navona

Walk around Piazza Navona

The area around La Casa del Conte, is one of the city’s most beautiful and with typical Roman atmosphere. This is an area with a lot point of interest like the spectacular open air square of Piazza Navona with the magnificent Bernini’s Fountain of Four River and like the Pantheon with his incredible central opening (oculus) to the sky. With this itinerary (see it below) you will also discover some caravaggio masterpieces hidden in small churches, like the Church of St. Agostino with the “Madonna of the Pilgrims”, a scandalous painting for the realistic dirty feet of the pilgrims and the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi with the famous “Calling of St Matthew”. Do not miss the Tromp l’oeil “dome” ceiling and its barrel vault baroque illusion of Church of Sant’Ignazio di Loyola and the first truly baroque façade of the Church of Gesù.
